CPAP – Continuous Positive Airway Pressure

Category:

Description

– Boussignac CPAP is a Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) device

How does it work?
– The operating principle of Boussignac CPAP is simple as it is based on the creation of a virtual valve.
– The pressure level obtained at this virtual valve depends on the gas flow rate supplied to the device. When you increase the flow rate, you increase the pressure and vice versa.
– Boussignac CPAP is an open system and works without a mechanical valve.
Thus, it adapts continuously to the patient’s physiology, with optimum safety concerning the pressures generated. No risk of barotrauma or volutrauma.

What are the indications?
– Acute Cardiogenic Pulmonary oedema
– Conscious drowned patient
– Acute severe asthma
– Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
– Bariatric Surgery
– Pre-operative pre-oxygenation
– Avoiding intubation
– Stabilisation and weaning immediately post extubating
– Fibreoptic bronchoscopy in hypoxemic patients
– Infant bronchiolitis

Proven benefits of Boussignac CPAP:
– High Fi02
– Rapid hypoxia correction with increase of Sp02
– Rapid correction of ACPE’s clinical signs
– Patient’s tolerance to an open system
– Alveolar recruitment
– Prevention of atelectasis
– Improved lung volume
– Reduced risk of reintubation
– Decreased length of in-patient hospital stay
– Decreased rate of ventilator ass. pneumonia & duration of 02 requirement
